Supreme Court Orders Suspension of X in Brazil and Imposes Fines

Urgent - Supreme Federal Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes ordered the suspension of the social media platform X in Brazil on the afternoon of Friday, August 30. He also instructed the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) to cut off access to the platform nationwide within a maximum of 24 hours. 📌 Companies like Apple and Google will have 5 days to remove the X app from their online stores. 📌 The justice imposed a daily fine of R$ 50,000 on any individual or entity using workarounds, such as VPNs, to access X despite the site being banned in the country. 📌 X, the company owned by billionaire Elon Musk, must pay outstanding fines for failing to comply with court orders to remove profiles spreading false information and attacks on democratic institutions.
